Poor Idle Blog!

I have let my blog go idle, but the first of the year hopefully it won't be idle any longer with any luck.  Currently I'm waiting for a surgery date and hoping I'll have it tomorrow.  The girl that does the scheduling has been on vacation and is due back tomorrow.  I wanted the surgery before Christmas, but not sure they can squeeze me in a week.  Once I have a date there will be lots to do anyways, so I may need longer.  I do have a brain tumor, but it isn't cancer and is operable.  It's sitting on my motor skills strip, which is the reason for my leg and arm issues.  The doctors said that it could have been growing for more than 20 years or even since I was a kid.  I am hoping for the best and trying to stay positive.  Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, I would appreciate it.  Once things are set-up I'll post the date.  My family will be updating Facebook with how I'm doing, probably Anthony, Sara and Triva, so look for there posts if you've interested.

So here's wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Of course I have to show off my grandson Liam, he's the apple of my eye!  He will be gone for the  holidays to Michigan with his parents.  I'm hoping when they get back I'll be able to hold him without supervision!  lol

Happy Veterans Day!

Welcome to the Veterans Day Blog Hop!  Veterans Day originated as "Armistice Day" on November 11, 1919, the 1st anniversary of the end of WWI.  Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and November 11th became a national holiday beginning in 1938.  President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed legislation in 1954 to change the name to Veterans Day as a way to honor those who served in all American wars.  The day honors military veterans with parades and speeches across the nation.  A national ceremony takes place at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.  American is the Land of the Free, because of it's brave.  Veterans Day celebrates and acknowledges the service o all United States Military Veterans.  Today we honor the brave men and women who have served in the American Military.  With great respect and a heart full of pride, we say a great big THANK YOU to those who have served and to those that are currently serving!

You should have started this Veterans Day blog hop at Melissa's Blog.  If you didn't, you may want to go back and start from the beginning, you don't want to miss any of the fabulous projects along the way!

So onto my project!  Today I made a scrapbook page, which I haven't done in what seems ages.  It  doesn't have a picture on it, but will be adding my dad's Army picture as soon as my mom finds it. My dad has been gone since 1994 and died much to young, he was just 51.  He is missed and he is still my hero!

For this layout, the paper is Pink Paislee and a sticker sheet, both from the Declaration Collection. The dog tag is Westrim Crafts.  The other stickers are both Paper House Stickers and K & Company.

These are a few of close up shots, the stickers are so pretty and glittery.  I don't usually use stickers, but really loved these!  For the frame I did use Tim Holtz distressing ink, Weathered Wood.  I love my ink!!

I put the glitter brackets on the journaling square to add a little pop!

I just love this flag, so pretty!

So that's it for my project and hope you enjoyed it and would love it if you would become a follower of my blog.  When I hit 50 followers I'll be having a giveaway!!!

So now onto the next stop on the hop.  Your next stop will the awesome Jenn Jackson, I'm sure you won't want to miss what she has in store for you!!

If you do happen to get lost along the way here is a complete lineup for the Veterans Day blog hop.

Crafty Saturday!

I've been MIA for weeks, but now onto new adventures.  I am no longer on the Cricut Design Team and am not going to go into the reasons.  I was the one that quit, I wasn't kicked off just in case you were wondering.  It just wasn't what I hoped it would be and it was more stress than fun. I don't want stress, I want fun and don't want it to feel like work.  I do have other opportunities that are coming together and am very excited about them.  I am getting into lots of blog hops and and will be posting my own projects until the first of the year.  After the first of the year I'll be announcing what me and the 'girls' have been up to.  The 'girls' are friends that I've made on Facebook that have the same interests as me and just want to have fun crafting.  I will hopefully be trying out for other Design Teams, but am going to wait until after the holidays are over and the dust settles.  The Design Team I was on left kind of a bad taste in my mouth so to speak, so want to make sure what I'm getting in to.

That's it for today and I do have a blog hop coming up on Monday the 12th for Veterans Day, so please stop back by and check it out!

I have no crafty picture to share, but get a picture a day of Liam from Sara and so I will post one of the latest ones.  They did come to visit yesterday, but not for any good reason, my hubby lost his brother a couple days ago and Sara wanted to be with her family.  He is in a better place now, but that doesn't make us any less sad.

Liam my sweet grandson!  I picked this picture because I love his little bathrobe.  He is plugged though, but still cute!  lol

Thank you so much for stopping by and I'll talk to you soon!

Boo Whoo Blog Hop

Thank you for joining us on the My Cricut Craft Room's Boo Whoo Blog Hop.  Today's sponsor is Erica's Craft Room, so please leave a comment on all of the blogs in the line-up to be entered to win the awesome prizes, the Teresa Collins Chic & Scary Cricut cartrige, as well as the Pumpkin Carving Cricut cartridge.  You must also be a follower of My Cricut Craft Room's Blog to be eligible to win.

For the Boo Whoo Blog Hop today I've made an actual scrapbooking layout using the Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge.   All of the images on this layout are from the same cartridge.  I really loved this spider web and added purple glitter to it and the Beware.  I also put a purple gem in the middle and added the Dress It Up spider button.  Those bats are also from Dress It Up.

This next picture is of the skeleton frame with a picture of the Wolfman from our front yard.   Hubby does love Halloween and really wants to scare all the little kids that come to the house.  He loves it when people drive or walk by and stop and rubberneck!

As usual I use buttons and bows, it's my 'signature' on all of my projects.  Everyone has that one special thing I think that they use on everything and that's mine.  So here is a bow, but it has a brad in the middle rather than a button, but notice the witches hat button above it!  lol

These next 2 pictures are of the picket fence and the pumpkins.  I just had to use the picket fence, I think it's pretty cute and also the pumpkins.  I used the purple glitter on both the fence and the pumpkins.  I used patterned paper for the pumpkins, thought it added that special something rather than just plain orange and green.  I also made the grass myself, I wanted it longer than the grass on the cartridge.

And finally this is the layout.  I thought it came out pretty good and if you check out my previous post you'll see the other half.  I always do 2 page layouts, so used the other side for another project for My Cricut Craft Room.  I know, it's not that great of a picture, but I do do my best and am looking into taking a photography class from a friend that's a photographer.

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope you enjoyed today's project.

So you should have come from Ginger's blog at http://www.createwithginger.com/ .

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday!

It feels like Halloween around my house already.  My hubby just loves Halloween and we decorate the front yard every year with all kinds of creatures and a graveyard.  I take pictures every year, but this is the first time I've actually done a layout with the pictures!  Actually, I can't remember the last time I did an actual layout with actual pictures on them.  lol

So for this weeks WYEGW the 'theme' is to cut a shadow feature from the cartridge and instead of using the piece you cut out, use the piece left behind.  I am hoping I did it correctly, but thought it turned out kind of cute.  The Cricut cartridge I used was Happy Hauntings.  It has some really cute images and had a hard time deciding which ones to use.  I used the witches hat below and need to use it again soon for another project because I love it.  I do still have the inside part that I didn't use though.  I used ribbon to make the corners and that's a skeleton grave picture inside the witches hat.    The background paper is from Walmart, I didn't have any Halloween paper around here that I wanted to  use for the background, so I saw this and bought it.  The spiderweb ribbon is also from Walmart and I've had it around for a couple of years. I did try to fit the witches picture inside the hat, but it just didn't fit.  lol  If you look closely at the picture you can see the witch in the background though.

This guy is new this year.  After Halloween we try to find something new on clearance and this is what we found last year.  It's not really called anything, I think the package said gauze creature or something like that.  His frame I did with a Martha Steward punch and it's spiders.  I think this is the first time I've used one of her punches, but it worked really good.  I made the bows out of the same ribbon as I used on the corners above.  As usual I couldn't get a good picture of anything and I tried everything, even going outside.

The trees were cut out using the Happy Hauntings cartridge also, it was actually the only cartridge I used on this layout.   Kind of wish I'd made them a little bigger, but I didn't have time to cut and redo any more of them.  The little ghost is a  Dress It Up button that I've had for years.  I'm also a button whore, along with ribbon, paper and pretty much everything scrapbook/craft related!!

And again, Bows and Buttons are like my 'special thing' that is on petty much everything I do.  So this is just a bow with a beware brad in the middle.  I'm pretty sure that I also got the brad at Walmart that I've had for a while.  I get a lot of stuff there on clearance and save it for when I need it.

I cut out the fence from the Happy Hauntings cartridge, but I did the grass myself, I wanted it longer than what was on the cartridge.  The buttons are made by Dress It Up.  I took the picture at a weird angle and it still didn't come out that great.  I think I used too much glitter if that's possible, but you can't really see it at all.

This is the actual layout and there's still a lot of glare on it.  Maybe I need to take photography classes next!!   I probably should have added some journaling, but may add it at a later date.  I'm horrible about journaling, and really need to work on that.

Please stop by October 13th for the Boo Whoo Blog Hop, you won't want to miss it.  I've seen a lot of the projects and they're amazing!  So mark your calendar and I will be posting reminders on Facebook.

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope you enjoyed my layout.

Busy Life - Lazy Sunday

It's already Sunday, time is just flying by these days.  Life has been so busy, so much going on these days that my mind is just constantly reeling.  I took this weekend to catch up on some things that I just had to get done for the DT I'm on and laundry (I hate it when I'm running out of underwear).  Did get my craft on yesterday and have been trying to get back to my craft room today, but hasn't worked out yet.  Have a few minutes to myself right now, which doesn't happen very often, so I'm doing a quick blog post.  lol

The Copic classes I took last Friday and Saturday were awesome!  I am awesome with crayons, but  not so much with pens.  I learned so much and have lots of practicing to do.  Practice, practice, practice.  Need to take time everyday and just craft and color!!  I did order another set of pens and that should give me enough colors to blend correctly.  I only have 36 now and ordered another set of 36, so that'll give me 72.  I figure it'll fill up the case that they gave us in class and maybe Santa will bring me more if I need them.  The instructor that we had was Debbie Olson and she was great and had a good sense of humor.

Did finally get to hold Liam last Sunday, he's so adorable!  Wish I could see him more, but with them living an hour and a half away makes it a bit tricky.  They will know by the end of the month if he gets the job in Spokane Washington, so that'll make it much harder to see him.  If they do move I'll have to get an IPad to do Face Time with them.  They use it for Adam's family in Michigan and it's pretty cool.

Well that's enough rambling for today, but it's been awhile since I posted and wanted to sneak one in before my design team post later on this week.  Hope you all have a great week and talk to you soon.

Can't not post a new picture of Liam, what kind of grandmom would I be!  lol  This is from our visit on last Sunday, so he wasn't quite a week old yet.  He did sleep a lot and I tried my best to keep him awake, but he was a sleepy guy.

I'm Finally A Grandmom!

I'm finally a grandmom as of 9/24/12 at 8:30 pm, that's when Liam Alexander Wallace came into the world.  He came in at 8 lbs 3 oz and 20 1/2 inches long.  We are very proud grandparents and Sara and Adam are very proud parents.

This is Liam at 1 day old.  He has a head full of blond hair and blue eyes and oh so pinchable cheeks.

Taking a few days off of actual crafting.  Friday and Saturday I'm signed up for Copic certification classes, standard and intermediate.  Hoping I'll learn a lot and then take the advanced if it's offered in this area.  Was so happy when I saw Sacramento on the list of classes, but was hesitant to sign up since Liam's due date was around the same time.  I got lucky all over the place!  Liam came a little early and now we have a beautiful grandson.  How luck is that, now I don't have to worry about  not being able to make the class and losing my money.  I had to sign up quickly because they fill up fast and they couldn't just hold me a spot just in case.   May sound cold, but the class isn't cheap and we don't have a lot of extra money at this time (or ever usually).

So have a great rest of the week and weekend.  I'll probably be offline mostly until Sunday night .  Sunday we're going to go spend the day with Liam and going to be in grandparent heaven!  Also looking so forward to the Copic classes too!!

Talk to you soon!

Theme Day Thursday!

It's Theme Day Thursday and this Thursday's Theme is Pink and shoes!  If you know me, those are 2 of my favorite things.  I'm all about pink and who doesn't love shoes!

Since September is Breast Cancer Awareness Month this is the theme I'm using.  We all know someone that is either currently being treated for Breast Cancer or is a Breast Cancer survivor.  I am not either, but have had a mammogram where they found a lump and was a mess until I found out it wasn't cancer.  Yes, I do go every year to get a mammogram and believe every one of us should.

I didn't have really anything in scraproom that was Breast Cancer related, but I do have a Cricut t-shirt that supports Breast Cancer Awareness.  So yes, I did take a picture of it and used it in my layout.  Figured it's got it all, it's Cricut and it's pink and it supports Breast Cancer Awareness!!

So for the shoes.  I used the Summer in Paris Cricut Cartridge for my shoes.  I them ran the shoes through my Cuttlebug and embossed them.  I used little pearls to add that little something extra, then decided they needed  a little bit more, so I added glitter.

I finally took the time to play in the Cricut Craft Room and was very impressed.  The lettering I used is the Cricut Letters that are free in the Cricut Craft Room.  I do love the welding feature, it worked out great.  The lettering also needed a little something extra, so I glittered them also.  I wish I would have thought of it before I attached them to the layout, but it worked out okay.

So finally, here is the complete layout.  I added a few ribbons that I did myself from some pinkish ribbon that I got in a prize package from my Design Team Sister Heather Lynn.  It did come in handy and she was so sweet to send me a box full of lots of goodies!  I am very lucky and proud to  be part of such an awesome Design Team!!

Yes, I am still working on my photography skills, but I do think it's getting better each time!  lol  I need to spend more time taking pictures and editing them, but I'd rather play in my scraproom.

Thank you so much for stopping by and talk to you soon.

Lazy Sunday and Finally Help With The CCR!

It's a lazy kind of Sunday for us today, too long of a day yesterday.  We went to Sunnyvale yesterday for a Kaiser Electronics Reunion, it's about a 3 hour drive one way for us, but was worth it.  I worked for Kaiser Electronics for about 14 years, my first real job.  A lot of my family worked there through the years and so I've known most of the people since I was a toddler.   Some people are no longer with us, but will be in my heart forever.  Kaiser Electronics wasn't just a place to work, it was a family.  It was the best place to work and I loved every minute of it and was heart broken when they started having troubles and ended up selling to Rockwell International.   I'm glad I wasn't around to see that happen, it would have killed me.  When all the major layoffs started I went ahead and left on my own and started over.  When Silicon Valley started dying we left the area and lost track of so many wonderful people that I considered great friends and even family.  When they started having these reunions I wasn't able to attend, but will go from now on and hope more and more people will also attend every year!

Enough of that!  lol  Erica from My Cricut Craft Room has mad an awesome help guide for the Cricut Craft Room.  She has outdone herself with this help guide and I do encourage you to download it and put it to use.  If you've been to the Cricut Craft Room and found it to be overwhelming then this is exactly what you need.  So run, don't walk to My Cricut Craft Room and download this awesome help guide and then head on over to the Cricut Craft Room and explore the possibilities!!

Have a great Sunday!

It's My Imagine-ation Monday!

Well it's My Imagine-ation Monday and I made a simple card with my Cricut Imagine.

As everyone probably already knows I'm expecting my first grandchild the end of this month.  Don't know if it's a boy or a girl, they want to be surprised.  So I've been using a lot of yellows and greens for everything, including this card.

I used the Cricut Imagine Nursery Tails cartridge.  I print and cut both images and it's so awesome to be able to do both with one machine.  I do need to use this machine more, but still need some practice, so this card was good for a practice project.  I need to play with changing the colors and the papers, the possibilities are endless with the Imagine machine!

So here is the front of the card.  I even used my Cuttlebug and embossed the paper, haven't used it in ages!!

This is the inside of the card.  I used the same Nursery Tails cartridge for the bib and a Martha Stewart edge punch for the bottom.  The stamp is from Stampin' Up.

I bought an easel to try to see if it would help with my pictures and I think it does!  lol

Thank you so much for stopping by my all new blog and hope that you'll become a follower!!

Have a great week and talk to you soon!

My Imagine-ation Monday

Today is My Imagine-ation Monday and the Letter of the Day is I.  I tried to think out the box for this one and decided to Smash it!  I've had my Smash book for probably a year and it's been sitting on my desk collecting dust and odds and ends from different things I've been doing.  So I decided to use the letter "I" literally, so this is a "I" Love project.

I'm still a horrible picture taker, but think I'm getting better!  lol  I did use the Artiste and the Forever Young cartridges.  The "I's", the hearts and bow are with the Artiste.  The image of the woman is from the Forever Young cartridge.  The hardest part for me to do a Smash book is that I'm a major chunky scrapper!  I love big bulky flowers and embellishments and it was hard to for me to scale down the bulk.  I did get a couple bows and buttons on there, but that's about all the bulk I did.

When I first started scrapbooking I used a computer to print out all my journaling and wording on my layouts.  When my son graduated from high school I made him a scrapbook from birth to his graduation.  He did love it, but gave it back to me and told me he would like to have my writing rather than from the computer.  So since then I've tried to make a point to use my own writing, but it's a lot of pressure!!!  lol  I've just come to the conclusion that life isn't perfect and so my journaling doesn't need to be perfect either.  I am only human.

I did have fun doing this and have some of my loves.  I'm going to keep going with the these of all things I love throughout this Smash book.  I have a couple others now that I can use for other things and I'm sure they'll be full of all kinds of different things.  I did have fun with rub-ons too, I haven't used them in years and they were great for fill ins.

So I hope you enjoyed My Imagine-ation Monday project and I'm sure I'll be talking to you soon!  I'm still getting my projects ready for the 100 Cartridge Hop this weekend, it will be awesome!!

Been Having Fun With My Cricut!

Been Playing and Having Fun with my Cricut!

Have stuff everywhere as usual and as always still looking for that 'just right' embellishment.  This week though it's that 'just right' lace.  With all of the lace and ribbon I have, I can't believe I can't find what I want for this project.   I know I will and when I find it I will re-post my 'finished' project.

So first I used the Summer In Paris cartridge, which is one of my favorites apparently since I use it a lot.  I used the negative of the dress forms that I cut and did send it through the Xyron to make it stick down.   I used  Tattered Angles Sand and sprayed the image onto the 8x8 canvas  I did put paper around the edges of the negative dress forms so I wouldn't get a square from over spray.  I love the Canvas Corp canvas', they're awesome and so much fun.

Here is a picture of the negative dress forms that I used in case you don't have any idea what I'm talking about!  I am horrible at trying to explain what I'm talking about and usually just confuse people.  lol

I did rotate the one on the far right so it wasn't facing the same way as the other one on the left.  I used my Cricut Expressions 2 and just love it!!

Here is the almost finished project I made.  For the flowers and the frames I used the Art Philosophy cartridge from CTMH, another one of my favorite cartridges.  I have fun making the flowers, I have the all over in different colors and shapes.

After I was done placing everything where I was happy with it, I re-sprayed the whole canvas with Sand again.  Once I find the perfect lace, I may also ink the edges of the canvas.

If you couldn't tell, I'm a total bling and bows kind of crafter and usually throw in a couple buttons for good measure.

Well have a great rest of the week and talk to you again soon!!

Fast Week, Thursday Already!

Well it's already Thursday and I'm so not ready for the weekend yet. lol I know, everyone is always ready for the weekend, but his weekend is hubby's birthay/retirement party and I still need a few more days to get ready!! I'm sure I'll be ready, but I want everything perfect.

Tomorrow is my son's birthday and he'll be 35. I can't believe how fast time goes by and I miss the child he was, but so proud of the man he has become. Anthony has a great heart and he's such a wonderful person. He does have his moments, but we all do. He's coming over to help me out a bit and spend the night and am very excited I get to spend his birthday with him!!

This was Anthony at 3 months and I've always loved this picture!

I thought I had a newer picture of him, but not on this computer, but hoping to take some pictures this weekend and I'll post a couple.

So have to run, still lots to do and I'll talk to you again really soon!

Fun Friday, Work Saturday, Lazy Sunday!

It's been a whirlwind weekend! Friday had such a fun day and night in Walnut Creek and then the class in Brentwood. Sara met us at her home and made us a taco lunch, which was excellent. Spent some time playing with her dog Cody before I left for my class and Richard stayed there. Richard and Sara spent the evening picking up the crib and dresser and they had a heck of a time and had to make a couple of trips to Babies R Us. They did have a good time though and got to spend some quality time just the two of them.

The class Friday night in Brentwood was so much fun. There were around 14 of us and Sherry Mendoza with Prima was such fun and very funny. I did learn a lot of different techniques and I do love working with canvas. I didn't get a chance to finish my album, but took a few pictures of Sherry's for future reference. Hope I get to take another one of her classes in the future.

On Saturday we loaded up a queen bed from Sara's house and brought it home. Bringing home the bed was the easy part other than loading it up and driving it back. I hate it when I can't see out the mirror and then driving on a freeway I'm not familiar with for over 2 hours with wind! We get the bed home and have to move the double bed out of our bedroom, carry it to the front yard, clean out under the bed and then vacuum where the bed was and of course the rest of the room too. Now we have to bring the queen bed in the house and set it up if we want a place to sleep. Well of course the frame that we have is supposed to be a full/queen and the new queen mattress doesn't fit the frame, so it's now on the floor. We should have taken the frame that Sara had, but we thought we had one. Now she has to bring us the frame on Saturday when she comes, not a problem. Sunday I did get some cleaning done and did 4 loads of laundry, mostly bedding and dog blankets, but nothing since then. Dinner was easy, so clean up was a breeze too!

So now ready for Monday and getting ready for our party on Saturday, Richard's 60th birthday and retirement party. I think we're having around 60 people, so have lots and lots to do to get ready. Richard is doing outside and I'm of course doing the inside and making lists. I have to plan my days or I won't get everything done. I have lists by stores and I did finally ask a few people to bring some things, food of course. I don't want to kill myself trying to make everything.

Here are a few of the pictures I took of Sherry's album from Friday and can't wait to finish mine, but I'm sure it won't look anything like hers. I did buy a few things that we used in class, but couldn't afford to get everything and I really wanted to! hehehe

This is the cover of the Album, it's Prima Mixed Media Resist Canvas Album and we used the Inner Pages Refill kit to do the pages.

These are a couple of the other pages from her album. I was rushed when I was taking the pictures and so they're not so great and these are the only pages I got to take pictures of. I'm hoping she'll have some pictures on her blog or somewhere that I can look at too.

I will talk to you soon, going to be a very busy week for me, but will make some time to post. I have a post for Tuesday with the DT, so I will probably see you then!

Hot Sunday - Awesome Announcement

Well Sunday is here, but it's freakin' hot again and it's supposed to be over 100 all week and I'm so not happy about that!! I hate the heat and it makes me grouchy too.

So for the announcement, I am one the new Design Team Members for My Cricut Craft Room . I am very excited, this is my first DT!! Here is a list of the new Design Team, it's a big list!!

Here are my really bad pictures of my projects that I submitted, I really need to work on how to photograph cards and layouts. Any advice would be appreciated!! lol

This is a tag I made to put into my canvas album. I used the Summer In Paris and Cricut Cartridge and the flower was made with the Art Philosophy (CTMH) cartridge.

This is a farm/tractor album I'm making for my brother-in-law and I used the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge for the little man and the tractor. The alphabet was done with the Old West cartridge.

This is the canvas album that's still in progress and mostly used the Summer In Paris cartridge. Again, sorry my pictures are horrible!

Lastly, these are the graduation cards I made for this years graduates using the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. For the wording on the outside and inside I used the George and Basic Shapes cartridge.

So that's my news for the day and I'll be posting a lot more stuff in the days and weeks to come. I wanted to get a running start, but hubby gave me his flu, so I've been sick and hoping I feel better later today or tomorrow. Lots and lots to do, this is a very busy time of the year! We're having a birthday/retirement party for hubby, first grandbaby on the way and just life happening all over the place. We're usually pretty much homebodies, but so far this summer we're running and don't expect to stop until around the second week of September!!

Have a great day and I'll talk to you soon!
